Manipur oppn parties to meet HM in New Delhi

IMPHAL Nov 4: A delegation of representatives from seven opposition parties in Manipur Sunday left for New Delhi to meet Union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and leaders of opposition on various issues faced by Manipur.

While meeting with the Union home minister, a source in the opposition parties said that the delegation would bring up the issue of territory integrity of Manipur in the wake of Central government’s reported six-point proposal to the NSCN (I-M) for settling the long pending Naga political issue.

It may be mentioned that recently appointed deputy chief minister Gaikhangam has been camping to meet Union minister to extract the written disclosure regarding the six-point proposal that the Centre was going to negotiate with the NSCN (I-M).

Chief minister, O Ibobi Singh who was on an official tour to Australia reportedly has handed over the charge of chief minister to his deputy on his absent. Ibobi Singh would be on foreign tour for the next 20 days, source disclosed.

The delegation would also highlight the issue of Indo-Naga peace talked with the Union home minister and insist him not to include any agenda which tantamount to hurt the interest of the people of Manipur and its territorial integrity.

They would also put down their stand to oppose any settlement that will disturb the aged old co-existence of the people of the state.

During their camping in New Delhi, the delegation would also meet opposition leaders of both houses of Parliament to insist them to bring up the scam that surfaced in the appointment of staff of the

Manipur Assembly Secretariat and also Rs. 224 crore scam in the Loktak phumdi (biomass) cleaning work that allegedly involved chief minister O Ibobi Singh and his family. TSE
