Mokokchung, May 21, 2013 (MExN): The Ao Senden (Ao Hoho – apex organizations of the Ao community) in its federal assembly held here today resolved to strongly oppose the move by the Nagaland State Government to grant Scheduled Tribe Status to Moa tribe. Besides, the Ao Senden also resolved to write to the State Government to ‘de-recognize’ the S/T status given to the Rongmei. The Ao Senden Federal Assembly resolved to take the issue of granting recognition to Rongemis and the Maos till the end.
The Ao Senden also deliberated on the foothill road construction linking Dimapur to Tizit (Mon). The Assembly noted that this issue has been talked for a long time but has not seen the light of day. Therefore, the Ao Senden resolved to work together with the Dimapur AST and resolved to search all means for finding ‘labour, intellect and financial support’ for the completion of this road. In this regard, the Ao Senden entrusted the Dimapur Ao Senso Telongjem to be in touch with the government agencies for the early completion of the road.
