7 tribes not to participate in NTC: Naga Hoho

DIMAPUR, OCT 10 (NPN): Formation of Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) comprising of all Naga tribes of Nagaland has become the focus of attention of the Naga Hoho, which had on several occasions, termed the formation as premature/irrational at a juncture when Nagas were moving towards a political settlement.

Secretary information & publicity Naga Hoho C.Daipao has stated that a meeting was held in Hotel Vivor on October 10 (Thursday) attended by 18 tribe hohos from different Naga areas and where the “formation of so-called Nagaland Tribes Council, was once again surfaced.”

Daipo said the house unanimously resolved to strongly reaffirm the May 3 resolution at the consultative meeting in Hotel Japfu Kohima; the June 28 Resolution No.4 of the federal assembly in Hotel Vivor Kohima and resolution at the Naga Hoho consultative meeting on September 28 in Hotel Vivor Kohima.

Daipao said the seven tribes from Nagaland – Angami Public Organisation, Ao Senden, Rengma Hoho, Pochury Public Forum, Kyong Hoho, Chakhesang Public Organisation and Zeliaingtong Baudi -have “strongly reiterated, that they will neither participate nor send their representatives to NTC(Nagaland Tribes Council) keeping in mind the unity and peace among the Naga family.”

Further Daipo stated that in the event that it was necessary to form NTC within Nagaland state in future, it should be thoroughly deliberated among the “mandated/established Tribe hoho’s with the participation of all tribes with proper consultation of Naga Hoho in the interest of the common Naga people.”

Naga Hoho had also announced in its May 5 press statement, that “no one will be allowed to represent their respective Tribal Hohos in any of the upcoming meetings other than those of Naga Hoho.”

It may be noted, that the Naga Hoho meeting in Kohima on Thursday comes ahead of the official launching of the Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) in Kohima.
